Colosseum, Palatin, (view of Roman Forum)

The Palatin is one of the seven hills in Rome. After Augustus, emperors like Tiberius, Domitian and Septimus Severus chose the Palatin for their private villas. The monumental remains of their palaces still give us an impressive idea of the former glory today. As one enters the Colosseum, which rises up at the slope of the Palatin, then one is still able to imagine the loud calls of the spectators, who incited the gladiators and the animals, which stood here in cruel fights of opposition. Still today the Colosseum belongs among the most well known and impressive buildings of Ancient.
