Private guided tour through the Galleria Borghese

You want to bring your art history closer to your children? Then there is no better place than the Galleria Borghese in Rome: the advantage of this museum is that it combines many different periods of art and style.

During the 2-hour guided tour, your children will get to know the dazzling artistic personalities of the 17th century, such as Caravaggio, and they will learn in what an illegal way some works of art came into the client’s collection.

In a playful way they learn to distinguish in which century a picture was painted. Since only a limited number of people have access to the gallery, you will enjoy complete peace during the tour. When the tour ends, you are in the middle of Borghese Park, where your children can let their energy run free. It could not be better!

If I was already in the Vatican Museums with my children in Rome, how can I inspire them for another museum?
The answer is simple: the visit to the Vatican Museums has nothing to do with a tour of the Galleria Borghese. Or even easier: the Vatican Museums are part of the “compulsory program” of a first visit to Rome. Even if you book a private tour here, you have to accept that you and your children, together with about 30,000 people, will be pushing through the rooms of the Pope (often torture for children). As in the Sistine Chapel “Redeverbot” is, explanations are only possible at the beginning of the tour with illustrations.

Not so in the Galleria Borghese: here your children can stand or sit in front of the statues and paintings. Since only a limited number of visitors per admittance will be left in the art collection, the rooms exude an incomparable tranquility and atmosphere that our experience will bring to your children.

While your children lose their receptivity due to the abundance of works exhibited in the Vatican Museums, despite a strict selection, the tension in the Galleria Borghese is maintained throughout the period of the tour, and open questions that naturally arise among the young, curious visitors, can be answered in peace.

How long does the tour take?
Due to the reduced number of visitors, the visit to the Galleria Borghese is limited to 2 hours. But that’s enough, especially if you’re traveling with children.

How expensive is the tour and do I have to pre-order the tickets?
Without reservation you can not enter the Galleria Borghese. If you book a tour with us, we will of course take over the reservation of the tickets for you.

The entrance fees vary depending on whether an exhibition takes place or not.
Maximum entrance fee per person including reservation: 25 euros (children pay 5 euros).

This children’s guide, which takes place privately for your family, costs 200 Euro (price up to 4 persons)

What exactly is being visited?
The Galleria Borghese is split into 2 levels. The lower part is given special attention in this tour, since here are the famous statues of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, to which there is much to tell and discover in stylistic and iconographic terms.

The famous statues of Bernini

On the same level are also the paintings of the story of the interwoven artist Caravaggio, who has become one of the greatest artist legends of the 17th century due to his special life stories. On the upper floor you will find paintings by famous artists such as Raphael, Titian or Lucas Cranach.

TIP: Here, your children should try to expose iconographic content and recognize differences in the images themselves.

Who is the kid’s guide?
The guided tour will be led by one of the RomaMirabilia German-speaking staff members, who all enjoy working with children and therefore have years of experience.

Each one of them does their own personal way of walking, which is well received by both children and adults.
